Strong Partnerships are at the Core of Shipco’s Strategy for Global Logistics Efficiency

Fragmented logistics networks often require businesses to work with multiple providers, leading to inconsistent standards, limited visibility, communication challenges, and scalability constraints. Robert Zorzi, Regional COO – Americas, and Jakob Bluhme, Global CCO – Global Accounts, explain how Shipco unites multiple neutral consolidation providers under the WorldWide Alliance (WWA) and utilizes a dedicated digital platform to streamline collaboration and address key transportation challenges.

The WWA offers customers enhanced support that individual partners cannot achieve. It also streamlines operations and data exchange through powerful digital platforms. This approach delivers efficiency and reliability on a global scale.

Robert Zorzi explains the origins of the WorldWide Alliance. “One of our customers said Shipco was global, but we didn’t have a global footprint everywhere,” he says, “So, the idea and the concept come up similar to what the airlines were doing – what was called Star Alliance back then or still is today. That you could be a group of companies under one umbrella and that group of companies could still work together, still offer customers the same platform to work on, to be very individual in who they are as a company themselves in their own market.”

Jakob Bluhme provides further details on the foundation of the WorldWide Alliance, highlighting its long-standing partnerships and the importance of trust in the service quality offered by the WWA participants:

“Founded back in 2007,” he says, “the WorldWide Alliance is basically, an alliance of all our partners over many years. The 100% neutral partners that we’ve had, worked with anywhere from 10 to 30 years. So, we know what they stand for. We know that they stand by also their neutrality, that we simply deal with freight forwarders and NVOCCs. It’s given us a massive footprint.”

Robert Zorzi believes this approach allowed Shipco to improve its competitive position in the market. “We [are] working with our partners, who have always been [either] number one [or] number two in the market, so it’s given us a certain strength in the market that others don’t have.”

Jakob Bluhme describes the over +2,600 direct weekly services backed by teams of consolidation professionals and supported by cutting-edge digital solutions:

“All our direct service is combined within the WorldWide Alliance. We are today a little more than 350,000 TEUs that we’re moving within the WorldWide Alliance – 7.2, 7.3 million cubic meters of LCL cargo. It’s a very large platform and a lot of great services we can give to our customers.”

Delivering high-quality logistics solutions globally with an emphasis on transparency and trust has always been Shipco’s goal.
